Mersea is a great place to go for a bite to eat or a drink with friends in one of its many pubs and restaurants.
Coast Road is home to some great establishments including the Victory Hotel, The Company Shed, The Oyster Bar restaurant & The Coast Inn, all with great views of the local boating community.
Mersea Island is the perfect place for walking, whether you would like a short stroll of "The Old City" or a longer walk along the "Strood Channel", there are plenty of beautiful views and an abundance of wildlife to see along the way. Not to mention some glorious sunsets!

Tides on Mersea are twice daily. Sometimes they cover the causeway at the Strood, leaving the island, er an island for that period of time.
It’s rare for locals to get stuck with a tide, they do the clever thing and check the tide tables. If the tide is at 4.5m or higher, it will probably cover the road.
